Pros

Barely there Breakfast, Wages, Uniform

Cons

Ruby Sunshine Café asked me to waive my right to my lawful 30 minute break, which I did because I really need a job.... However, the have no board for posting Tennessee State Law that states it's the law(required signage)…or... Employers must post a written waiver policy in order to utilize this exception. The policy must include a waiver form, letting employees know that they have a right to a break unless they waive it. The policy must also state how long the waiver will last, and how the employee or employer may rescind the waiver. There expectations/policy of working you 10 hours straight with no break is unlawful, They also have a no smoking policy, meaning even if you ask for a break, you're not allowed to smoke on it. Not sure if that's legal either.

Pros

Super viral on social media. long term structure

Cons

The role was not what was presented during the interview process, and expectations changed almost immediately after starting. I was quickly given a much heavier workload than what had been discussed, which made the position feel misleading from day one. Management was split 50/50 where one side was solid but the other also lacked control over basic operations, which created constant inconsistency. There were effectively two different ways of doing the same task (Management’s way and the servers’ way) and standards were enforced 1/2 the time. Since staff often ignored direction without consequence. This led to confusion, uneven workloads, and a frustrating work environment where accountability depended on who you were. There also seemed to be clear favoritism toward certain servers. On top of that, management could be dismissive and unprofessional, including belittling comments, threats of firing or silent treatment. Overall, the workplace felt disorganized, unfair, and wayyy more chaotic than what was initially promised.
