Pros

This is a 100% factual and honest review from someone who was at the Runzheimer for 9 years. I have no axe to grind as my life turned out OK after my product line was terminated and my office was closed. I received decent severance based on my tenure and unemployment compensation. But I do wish to counter all the "super fluffy ultra-positive, sparse one line, 5 star reviews" that seemingly pop up on this site anytime someone submits their less than flattering, but honest appraisal of their employment at Runzheimer. Runzheimer bought the company I worked for in Cleveland 9 years ago and added it to their product line. It was the first and largest acquisition Runzheimer had ever made up to that point in time. The corporate owner and management team came in and made a lot of promises to the existing staff, which they kept 100%. No one was let go in the acquisition, which was a nice and rare corporate gesture on their part. My salary was increased and my benefits were improved. I was always treated with respect and had a good work / life balance. It was a job / company I intended to stay at for the rest of my life as Runzheimer prided themselves on career tracks for their employees.

Cons

Runzheimer immediately implemented their "culture" and their silo processes on their new purchase. From the beginning, there was a stifling inertia of "status quo" present at almost every level within the organization. You had to drink the corporate Kool-Aid and play along to stay employed.....which is true anywhere you are employed these days. We were a very profitable company when purchased by Runzheimer and were a profitable product line for the first handful of years under Runzheimer's product umbrella, but then the wheels fell off for multiple reasons beyond the Cleveland offices control. First off, the company hierarchy continuously reorganized in the 9 years Runzheimer owned the product line. There was constant flow of new corporate VIP's in charge of our product line every 10-20 months. Most had little to no idea what we did or how to market us. By the time you'd get the new VIP on board with understanding our product line they would be gone in a corporate restructuring or left the company altogether. In addition, the corporate sales team in charge of selling our product had an incredible turnover rate, was usually inadequately trained in regards to our product line, and was only able to sell the product line in very anemic amounts. All of that was not entirely the sales teams fault as they were given extremely large territories / client lists to cover. Lastly, there was little to no significant IT improvements made to the product line in the 9 years I was there. The technology side of the product was extremely out of date....antiquated at best. Corporate IT rarely listened to or had the time made available to address the needs for system updates. We were at a constant competitive disadvantage as a result. Overall, there was seemingly little to no accountability within the organization about the failure of senior leadership and sales teams in regards to the product lines' steady decline and final demise. When the end finally came it was hastily announced via a company wide conference call. The product termination at the client level was extremely amateurish and left many customers of longstanding in the lurch with minimal notification in the middle of their respective busiest seasons.

Pros

I’ve been with Runzheimer for 15+ years, across multiple departments. I’ve seen a lot of change over the years, some good and some that I probably wouldn’t brag about. Aside from how great the benefits are and the fact that we have free popcorn, drinks, coffee and a ping pong table to boot... I have to say, what makes this company special is the way our leadership team works each and every day to make sure the employees feel as if they are heard, cared for and part of the big picture. I know there are negative reviews and I agree, the coffee is not the best. However, seeing smiles on people’s faces when they are in the office and talking to them about the fact that the culture is so different than before, makes you realize how truly special it is to be a part of this amazing transformation. We have a lot going on and there is a lot of work to do, but I feel like we are pulling together as a team and getting the job done. It’s exciting to be a part of something that is going to launch this company further than we’ve ever been. I look forward to many more years here with Runzheimer and I can’t wait to see what Randy and his team have in store for us next.

Cons

I have no negative comments to share.
