Pros

It's a hospital and university that cares about its employees and its community. With the tough economy, Rush has continued to make sure that employees maintain their benefits, and has done so while in the middle of a big building effort . A new hospital is planned in the next few years, and groundbreaking has already begun. Our CEO has meetings frequently throughout the year where employees can come to ask questions, or they can ask questions on-line. He also travels frequently to the units, even on nights to hear what employees have to say and to tell them what's going on.

Cons

It can be stressful working in a hospital setting where there are many sad stories.

Pros

I used to work in rushs fertility clinic and felt there was a really great collaboration between everyone on the team.

Cons

our fertility clinic had multiple locations and i had to drive to each one on different days. I felt the compensation wasnt enough for the drive.

Pros

great resources and technology available to make charting easier. i've worked on great units and bad ones, it really depends on management and your support staff.

Cons

big hospital system, again focused on numbers and quantity over quality care. chronically understaffed which leads to overwork and patient risk. staff is not listened to by management when raising concerns about patient safety. not paid enough for nonexistent work life balance. was often working 50-60+ hour weeks staying late and charting with no extra pay
