Pros

This is a state job. There is some sense of stability. Many people are staying here for many years. There is an opportunity to teach medical students and residents, to do research, to get involved in clinical trials. Got sport facilities. Close to train station and 55 min from NY downtown by train. Many nice townships are around.

Cons

Low compensation, some beurocracy. It may take many month to get something approved. We have had no salary increase since 2009. It does not look that things are going to improve due to dependence on state and decreasing funding from all sources (state, NIH, private funds)

Pros

Great support and pay for adjuncts. It’s a bit above 8k per online course spread out biweekly. Small online class sizes. Little to no burden for adjuncts for adjusting syllabus or course logistics. Just grading and student support.

Cons

Very little! I’ve had a wonderful experience and enjoy working here.

Pros

co-workers are super nice, friendly and collaborative. Good flexibility in work arrangements. My immediate boss is nice.

Cons

Morale is quite low, and turnover is high. We are losing good people and goals are not being met. Senior Leader tell us to do more with less, and do not want constructive feedback. They don't lead by example, taking elaborate trips instead of being present and supporting staff. Rules don't apply to them. So disappointing, not what you would expect from a public university.
