Pros

Great brand recognition. Big income possibilities if you exceed your quota. You will be surrounded by "A players" that are incented to help you sell. Broad array of software solutions in your bag. Market leading position. In the large company market, there is only one real competitor (Oracle). Integration and industry focused solutions with built-in best practices are great selling features.

Cons

Management pressure every quarter. Account shuffling every year sometimes means you lose accounts you have invested months to cultivate. You get a new Sales VP just about every year. License pricing from SAP Germany is confusing. No real SaaS solutions available to sell. Tough economy to sell big ERP.

Pros

The people at SAP are genuinely nice, and the culture is generally supportive. The work-life balance is good to an extent, but when you're busy, you're BUSY. SAP is highly complex so expect to take a year to ramp up.

Cons

Only way to get a high salary is if you're hired externally. They do not reward employees who are loyal to the company. Closed opportunities often have to go through the Compensation Exception Committee, creating uncertainty around earnings. Prepare for constant change, whether that's solutions being removed from your sales bag, account shifts, territory realignments, or changing compensation policies. Quotas can be difficult to attain
