Pros

- Lot of opportunities for trying out different roles - Lot of opportunities for improvement with whatever tools you want to use - Compensation package is good if it fits your needs - Office is well equipped with lot of options for taking a quick and energizing break - Lovely team - Standard, professional grade work equipment - Easy to find projects with a relaxed pace

Cons

There are a lot of companies who compensate better hard working engineers. Motivation falls rapidly as taking the extra mile is not valued. Global Issues: - SAP is defined as a software company, but the harmonization of engineering efforts or practices is barely detectable - Too complex portfolio, no real sense of direction - Hard to translate and understand top management goals on the lowest level - Hard to connect to actual project with no feedback on project performance - Always forcing half-baked internal tools on projects instead of using tools off the shelf and putting the effort into creating a better a product - Lots of layers of unmotivated managers - Lots of slackers who are a pain to work with Local issues: - Small locations most likely have very small bargaining power for better benefits - Local leadership only responds if there is a hurdle about the car benefit - Local leadership not too open for adding other benefits - First stage of grief on WFH: denial, office is always communicated as primary place to work Teamwork: - Close to impossible hiring of experts for technical tasks, no architect or PM on big projects - no QA on a lot of components-> fear of things failing-> imposter syndrome-> burnout - Low team culture, no corporate initiative to make teams work better together - Close to no team building budget Compensation/promotion - unclear requirements for promotion, most likely just time based - scattered compensation package

Pros

Good work life balance over time, culture of help, good opportunities to advance and move around, decent pay, ceiling for commissions is high.

Cons

Are increasingly finding ways to dock compensation and make rules around comp confusing and unclear. Internal processes, tools, and policies are incredibly complex. Very difficult to find people to support basic customer issues. Sales becomes a catchall for customer problems, leaves little time to sell. Benefits and pay increases decline year after year.
