Pros

HR cares about the well-being of its employees and provides them with good perks and benefits. SCAN tries to do right by its customers and encourages employees to assist in that endeavor.

Cons

The company is not a good spot for growth. There are great opportunities for growth as an individual contributor but growth from an individual contributor to a management role will not happen here. As evidence, look at the job posting for leadership roles; all of those will be filled by outsiders, despite there being people within the company who could and should be moved into management. The work-life balance really doesn't exist for hourly employees here.

We’re glad to hear your positive feedback around our HR team, and the value our robust benefits offer you as supporting the wellbeing of our Rebels (employees) is important to us. It’s also great to see you align with our commitment to doing what’s right for our members—a key part of what makes us unique as a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization. Thank you for also sharing your feedback around growth opportunities and work-life balance. As SCAN continues to evolve to meet the needs of our members, some leadership positions may require external expertise to strengthen our organization. However, internal growth and recognition, workload management, and support resources remain important priorities, and we’re mindful to ensure that our Rebels feel supported in their professional journey. With that said, we hear you and encourage all employees to share their feedback, whether through surveys, direct conversations, or other channels. Honest input is not only welcomed, but essential in helping us improve as we continue to grow and evolve as an organization, and no one should feel hesitant to make their voice heard. Please don’t hesitate to share your feedback with your supervisor or a member of the HR team at peoplerelations@scanhealthplan.com at any time.

Pros

The location is decent enough, and the commute did not make things worse than they already were.

Cons

- There is a very clear in group culture in the office, and if you are not included from day one, you are immediately at a disadvantage. - People stick to the same lunch groups every day with the same conversations, and if you are outside of that circle, you are simply left observing. - Getting basic work answers can become unnecessarily difficult because information tends to circulate only within informal groups that are never openly shared. - Effort and performance do not seem to matter much compared to social placement within the office hierarchy, which appears to be decided almost immediately during onboarding. - Management acts as if none of this exists, even though it is felt constantly by anyone outside those circles.
