Pros
SCS seems to attract great people. Everyone I work with has been intelligent, kind, driven, and genuinely cares about our mission. There are a ton of different programs that you can work in. Many employees have worked their way up to high positions, and those at the director level have been with SCS for 10+ years. My manager is excellent. I have a lot of autonomy and flexibility in my work. We get a small anniversary gift each year, which is a nice gesture. There were a few company-wide salary increases in 2021, but not since then.
Cons
The biggest con is the technology we use. The reality is that I'm at a computer all day every day, managing a lot of data and files. In the 2+ years I've been here, it's been one bandaid solution after another, trying to fix tech issues. I think this is because each program has different needs and this makes it hard to have one system that works for every program. The result is a lot of frustration and inefficiency. The other con is a lack of cohesive company culture. I have rarely interacted with anyout outside of my team in 2+ years. Yes, we occasionally have events (holiday party, employee summit), but I personally would like to see more of this. It would be nice to have regional meetups or even be brought in to the office. Or even if we had more virtual events. I feel like I don't know enough about the other programs at SCS, and it can feel isolating to have so little interaction with others (and I worked remotely long before joining SCS, so this isn't just because we're remote). The annual review process is also not clear. It keeps getting pushed back for months and months. Unclear how salary increases work.
