Pros
Great potential if the workers were empowered to run their own union. Used to be an organizing machine but peaked around 2008. Amazing worker leaders available among the members.
Cons
Unwieldy bureaucracy with absolutely no accountability to the members who pay the freight. Absolute power concentrated at the top with an aversion to democracy like the Kremlin. Staffed up with college kids and flunkies as opposed to a worker led movement where the staffing and leadership rise up from the rank and file workers.
