Pros
The expressed views and mission of SEIU are laudable. The benifits were good.
Cons
The expressed views and mission of SEIU are laudable but do not apply to their own employees. There is NO respect for private life or life out side of work. Organizers are expected to work 12-14 hour days, answer their phone and email at all times and often get punished for not immediately responding to emails and phone calls sent and made far far outside of what can be considered work hours. While the benefits are good you can never use them because you are always working. Managers assume staff are trying to get over rather than believing that staff has come to the organization because they believe in the cause, this results in managers always mistrusting staff and trying to "catch" them doing wrong. There is no trust between coworkers and people are regularly thrown under the bus. Organizers are never allowed to say that they don't know how to do something or need help, that is grounds for being fired or blacklisted, and there is little to no training.
