By some miracle or favor within the universe this company is able to keep the lights on. Engineers and staff are generally forced to manage up.. there is overwhelming incompetence among Line Managers, Directors, VPs. Those who have the desire to improve practices/processes/procedures are left with the insurmountable barrier of having to go through a lackadaisical management team whose only real concern is maintaining power, authority and position often putting the welfare of the company (not to mention the quality of the product) at risk. If there is any silver lining to working with a company like this its that the dysfunction and chaotic management structure allows for a host of self development opportunities. It is all but mandatory to work outside of your comfort zone and skillset to get things done. Be absolutely prepared to wear many hats complete with a salary that does very little to compensate for the unofficial responsibilities you'll collect during your tenure.
