SLAC - Electronics Engineering SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Employee Review

Pros

There are some very interesting projects going on. If you can get in on one or more of these, lucky you. As part of Stanford University, the benefits are good but the pay is on the low side.

Cons

If you have a PhD or are a manager, your set. If not, you do not have a career, you have a job. It is managers and the PhDs that get the real glory, respect and recognition. The people who sweat and do the work get a "spot award" at best. What a joke. Poor budgeting and planning often results in mandatory vacation use and layoffs.

Pros

The opportunity to contribute to high-impact scientific research while collaborating with a dedicated, intelligent team was truly rewarding.

Cons

Workload consistently increased while resources simultaneously diminished, creating a lack of backup personnel for key roles, and significant operational silos between departments hindered cross-functional collaboration.
