Pros

Once you get onboard, you'll be partnered up with mentors (staff scientists) who are incredibly friendly, approachable, and knowledgable. Management will do their best to match you with people who can help you reach your goals. CS, EE, ME, Math, Physics, Chem/Bio majors galore. Your projects will be hands-on, and meaningful. Definitely a great place to work if you've got the fundamentals down and you're looking for solid and impressive experience. SLAC is huge. Great cafeteria, and on-site Starbucks. Nice gym with a basketball court, fitness classes, loads of equipment, soccer field, indoor and outdoor volleyball, etc. Monthly BBQs. When you have down time, I highly recommend going to different buildings and connecting with people in other departments. Everyone seems to be highly approachable and connections can lead you to great places.

Cons

Chemical and civil engineering majors won't find too much to do. You'll have to pick up some new skills (programming, for example).

Workload consistently increased while resources simultaneously diminished, creating a lack of backup personnel for key roles, and significant operational silos between departments hindered cross-functional collaboration.
