Pros
Exploration - travel the world on the company dime, meet people from everywhere, work outside in the world not in an office 24/7. Great people - politics and shenanigans aren't present in the field, all blue collar honest people. Good savings rate - you work away and it's all payed for while working, so most of the time you're able to save a lot of money. Growth - you never know yourself until you're challenged, and SLB will find your limits for both good and bad. You'll be forced to develop yourself very quickly. It's the closest you can get to the military without actually going to military.
Cons
Lifestyle is hard on loved ones - hard to explain to a spouse you'll be gone over 4 weeks at a time with minimal communication. Work conditions are very challenging at times, hot, cold, muddy, rain, oil etc. SLB on net likely underpays compared to market in my experience, not egregiously but to an annoying degree.
