Smart people solving big problems (though usually in private and without much fanfare). Outrageously generous health, grandfathered pension and downtown garage parking benefits. Ok 401k with an ok vesting schedule.
Cons
I work for a pedantic, megalomaniac who routinely degrades his own team, comprised primarily of female professionals. We are subject to personal insults about weight, race, gender identity and age. The entire team operates as kicked puppies and struggles to confidently partner with business leaders. We are actually scared to share (even laterally) our ideas toward continuous improvement, for fear of reprimand or worse. My colleagues and I would have difficulty finding similarly-benched roles outside of SME. My golden handcuffs are getting heavy as I sit under this glass ceiling waiting for vesting. Other top performers in my department have self-selected out of their jobs, reporting a hostile work environment with an insufferable tolerance for harassment.
