Pros

-Coworkers are brilliant and support each other as much as possible with a company who's policy is for people to leave so they can pay ridiculously low salaries. -HR and payroll do their job well and support the employees. -It's the only company to work for if you want to support AFDIL, DPAA, FBI, etc. as a contractor

Cons

-the truly disheartening thing about this company is that the workers have so much desire to help the company be better, which require little to no cost on their part, but they refuse to even listen. Everything is perceived as an accusation. -scientists, support staff, quality assurance with BAs, MAs, and PhDs and a desire to support noble missions are living in low income housing, food stamps, and foregoing medical care. -Healthcare is too expensive for those with dependants. -When management has visited (infrequent and almost zero communication), they make it clear that they don't value the employees. They've repeatedly have told us they 'make no money on the contract' so they don't want people to be employeed for more than 2 to 3 years to keep salaries low. They have no shame and they don't even pretend to care. -they refuse to respond to questions in writing, even on very basic questions like work travel policies, 401(k) matching, PTO. When they have incorrectly conveyed company policies on 401(k) and raises they take no responsibility (human error is a thing and we get that). -during company visits coworkers have asked about the need for parental leave we were told to take short term disability. One of my coworkers pointed out that they were LGBTQ+ and SNA Management said they supported adoption with $1200. That does not support a new family with the ability to bond with a child in any meaningful way. -morale working for this company is so low, I absolutely do not believe that some of these reviews are real.

SNA International Response
3y
We want our employees to be happy, and we will do whatever we can for our high-performing employees within the confines of our contracts. However, for example, with Federal contracting, we are hired and agree to provide a specified labor mix. We cannot create a new position our client has not asked for just because an employee feels they should be promoted. However, professional growth can be achieved outside of the contract if an employee provides the best value to the contract and is selected by the government to move to a government position that has more responsibility and authority. Government positions are earned through hard work and dedication. We encourage our employees to seek professional growth by moving to government positions.

Pros

1. Working for SNA and on the AFMES program IS the most professionally rewarding, scientifically rigorous, and mission‑driven environment you can find in our field. 2. From a science and mission standpoint, this place is exceptional. Our contractor team is a key part of that, helping AFMES maintain world‑class forensic capabilities that support everything from individual casework to high‑visibility national missions.

Cons

Not many, providing scientific answers and closure to families will always outweigh chasing a slightly bigger paycheck—it is what it is, and the impact of our mission more than makes up for it.

Pros

Incredible mission that matters every day: AFMES’s mission is to investigate deaths, identify the fallen, and improve readiness and warfighter survivability, and you feel that purpose in everything you do. Our work directly supports the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), whose mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting of missing personnel to their families and the nation, so the science you do here helps bring Americans home. Direct impact on DPAA identifications and family closure: AFMES’s Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL) and repository operations are tightly integrated with DPAA operations, enabling DPAA to meet and even exceed its longstanding goal of 200 identifications per year. *****World‑class forensic science and innovation:

Cons

Honestly, none for me. This is a demanding, high‑consequence mission, but that intensity is exactly what makes the work meaningful; if you’re looking for a low‑stakes, 9‑to‑5 environment, this isn’t it—but if you want your work to matter, AFMES is the right place.
