Pros
My coworkers were absolutely wonderful to work with. I had a fantastic team and I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
Cons
When I was considering working at SPAN Enterprises, I did a lot of research on the company and CEO. At first glance, it looks like a great place to work— they portray a fun work environment, a casual dress code, and a chance to develop your skill set through collaboration. I even read the CEO’s personal blog. It was important to me to work for someone who would allow me to be empowered in my role and trust that I had the experience and skill set necessary to do my job effectively. As I read his blogs, I remember thinking how awesome he sounded as a business-owner (and as a human being in general), and how well his morals matched my own. He spoke of respect, the importance of diversity, and especially appreciating the people that work for him. It sounds great, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought too. I very quickly found out after accepting a job at SPAN that none of this was true. First and foremost, Agie, the CEO, does not write his own blog, nor does he stand by any of the morals previously mentioned. He does not trust his employees and there is absolutely no job security for any position. The entire time I worked there, I walked into work each day fearing for my job, but not because I wasn’t excelling in my position, but because the kind of day someone has at SPAN solely depends on the mood of the CEO. Instead of investing money into his products and employees, he uses the company budget to buy things like Carolina Panthers tickets, plane parts as decorative pieces for the office, and his own personal car that he calls the “company car.” It’s also not uncommon to be moved to a new position at the drop of a hat (whether it is a lateral move or a promotion), but do not expect a pay raise with increased responsibility. Employees were told that bonuses at the end of the year would be based on performance reviews. Although we did have performance reviews with our direct boss, the CEO never looked at them, and instead gave bonuses based on tiers of the amount of time worked at the company. If you are considering accepting a position at SPAN, I strongly urge you to reconsider. Before I accepted my position, I wish I had listened to reviews on this site instead of writing them off as disgruntled employees. I hope someone reading this can learn from my mistake.
