Pros

They are making positive improvements.

Cons

Managers are short of imagination and lacking in veracity. SRC is a mishmash of divisions, service areas, and offices. Several of the divisions function fairly well. The exception is ISEC, which primarily provides bodies for government outsource work which most government workers will not do, since there is no real future in it. SRC also exists as a body shop for people on government sites. In this capacity which only serve to enrich a few high level managers at remote offices and the Syracuse base camp. Most work is tedious and exacting, which will lead one eventually to ask why am I here. SRC meandered for years due to various niche specialties in EW and Radar. They grew none the less due to these odd ball niche expertise areas until the lack of any real talented managers became much too much of a problem. Then, they finally they began their quest for strategic vision. With such a rag tag of operational areas, services, products it is not possible to have a cohesive strategic vision except at the most general levels, which consequently makes it impossible to have any real meaningful career development paths. Not surprisingly, SRC does not have any career development paths. With it's growth over the years, SRC has from time to time brought talent in at the mid management level. Once they get a real whiff of the place, they realize they must move on for any future. SRC has been trying to figure out who it is for so long they have decided to incorporate it's lack of identity into a memorable catch phrase: Redefining redefining -- No wait its: Redefining impossible -- or something close to that.
