Pros
- Location is close to hwy 401, 403 and 427 - casual wear - free coffee/ tea - friendly co workers - decent benefit package - based salary is above market - reimbursement of gym membership ($30/ month); net of tax is $22
Cons
- long hours (~ 50-60 hours / week (including weekends)), wage is considered lower than the market - people tended to eat at their desks because there is too much work - multiple daily deadlines are stressful - no overtime/ lieu day - poor/ minimum training (it is common that you have to cover your colleague if he leaves/ quits) - extremely high turnover rate ( a person would leave in a month or 2 ) - unorganized environment - scope of work is beyond the contract (ie debug/ troubleshoot programs) - lack of promotion and recognition of work - delayed bonus dispute of the good financial result; bonus pushed back from March to July, and from July to Oct. The bonus was promised to be retroactive back to March; ended up retro from Sept and paid on Oct - minimum raises dispute the good financial result - extremely poor management; fails to deliver promises; however, they do promise a lot to make you work - micro management (would track time log and the time file is created to determine your ‘efficiency’ and work time) - HR does not take into consideration of employees’ concerns
