Pros

SS&C has some extremely bright minds and hard workers. You can work from home from time to time The dress code is Casual Dress

Cons

There is very little room for growth or advancement with SS&C. Once hired at this company you might as well look at it as a paycheck or place holder until you can find something else. The company markets itself as a software company but puts no money or resources into the enhancement of their software packages. There is no structure or accountability nor are there any real rewards. Upper management is clueless and refuses to learn or address the current problems. The common practice is to create a process, but not one that will be enforced or followed. It is merely put in place to point the finger at someone else if unrealistic deadlines are missed. This company is very much focused on Sales. Sell it now, build it later. If the client gets upset…that’s okay…there are more out there. Client retention is rapidly decreasing. The executive level of the company is a joke. Emails from Bill Stone are printed and hung up around the office for people to laugh at. They rarely make sense and if they do they are in no way inspiring. Bill may want to start writing them around 1pm instead of 1am. Bonus and Raises are small and constantly months late with very little of a performance review. Goals for the next year and career growth are very unclear and often ignored. It is unfortunate the company doesn’t realize what it is doing. They have some extremely bright people who what to work and are proud of their work, but with no recognition or rewards that talent is exiting quickly.

Pros

- Hybrid/remote, only required to work in the office 3 days a month - Quarterly bonuses - 401k matching

Cons

- Cannot overstate how understaffed the department is. We are expected to manage enormous volumes with a dwindling team because the company will not replace anyone who leaves. They also will not let go of poor performers, because they know upper management will not replace them. This means that there are team members who have been on the team 3+ years that are still unable to perform even the most basic job duties without assistance, performing at just 30% of the productivity quota, and even no call no showing with zero consequences while the rest of the team is expected to pick up their slack. This creates a toxic work environment and meetings filled with constant frustration and hostility. - The high volumes result in frequent "mandatory" overtime. However, because of the lack of consequences, poor performers frequently leave before the work is done and saddle the rest of the team with additional work. - Management is a joke. Incredibly unprofessional, lack of communication, and creates a hectic, disorganized environment. No support is provided to employees and even the most basic manager duties are offloaded onto already overworked team members because management is too incompetent to do their own jobs. - COLA and yearly pay increases are laughable at 2% or less. - Company invests heavily in automation and offshoring processes to avoid hiring new employees and paying a living wage. Both of these result in poor quality work that creates more work for onshore employees. - "Unlimited" PTO depends heavily on the department. It can be difficult to request time off and calendars fill up quickly. It also cannot be used for doctor's appointments or unplanned sick days, and the company only offers 5 sick days per year.
