Pros

Decent benefits Company vehicle Company expense account It’s a big company, they are able to negotiate decent deals. The company vehicle for me was more of a con than anything else because it’s another vehicle you are responsible for.

Cons

Steris has gotten too big for it’s own good, from when I started to now it’s a nightmare. If you are a field employee, the management and executive teams seem to think you are disposable and frankly don’t care. You will have ZERO work life balance, ZERO help from management with difficult issues and customers, and once you are done with their ridiculous training program (over a year) you will be left on your own to fail or kill yourself trying to maintain convoluted KPI’s and impossible standards. Micromanaging is more prevalent than when I started after the new CEO took over, and upward movement in the company is unheard of. Compensation is regularly UNDER the industry average, annual raises are MAX 3% which is essentially nothing with rising costs of living and inflation. For mediocre pay, the amount you will work and associated stress is just not worth it.

Pros

Working at STERIS has been a rewarding experience, especially if you’re someone who isn’t afraid to put in the effort. One of the biggest advantages is that your earning potential is directly tied to the amount of work you put in. If you’re motivated, proactive, and willing to take on responsibility, you can truly earn great money here. The company gives you the opportunity to grow, learn, and take on more whenever you’re ready. It’s a place where hard work is recognized and often rewarded, making it a strong fit for people who enjoy being in control of their own success. If you’re driven and want a job where your hustle actually shows up in your paycheck, STERIS is a solid choice.

Cons

On the downside, the job can be challenging due to frequent product shortages, which makes it difficult to meet customer needs and hit goals especially when there’s little support from corporate to resolve these issues. Another major frustration is that when you take vacation, you're still working, because there’s no real backup to cover your territory. The role also requires a lot of travel, which can be demanding and exhausting over time. Lastly, promotions are few and far between, so career advancement can feel slow despite strong performance. Overall: STERIS can be a great place for someone who wants control over their earnings and doesn’t mind putting in significant effort. However, lack of support, constant travel, and limited growth opportunities may make it challenging for long‑term satisfaction.
