Pros

Good starting job for 16-17 year olds as a courtesy clerk.

Cons

Takes 1500 hours for $0.25 payraises (formerly $0.10 prior to 2022), 8 times. So that's 12,000 hours for a $2 raise. Profits come FIRST. Employees come LAST. If criminals bring a gun into your store, you go into lockdown and hide until their gone. Once their gone, you aren't allowed to close or take care of your employees because the gun is gone, "there's no reason to close," and if you DO close, you'll be terminated. You're their least priority.

Pros

Nothing at all, only work at Safeway if you're about to be literally homeless

Cons

Genuinely hellish work environment. Management is lazy and absent, customers are the most disrespectful and clueless I have ever encountered. Complete unrealistic labor allocation and expectations. As a PIC, I have to run 9 SCO robots, unlock cases for customers, perform transactions at Customer Service, answer external phone calls, and move freight. Customers rightly get frustrated at the complete lack of care by corporate, and take it out on employees. Management in the morning all skip out on the evening management early every single day, a luxury the closing staff are not allowed.
