No flexibility - Room Service Order Taker Sage Hospitality Employee Review

Pros

You work close with the kitchen and get lots of free food.

Cons

You work alone and can not leave your desk because you are the only one answering the phone for Room service. Your manager has to give you breaks, but also bathroom breaks so that the phone is never unattended to. You coordinate most events and gifts related to food and many need the proper paper work to fulfill, but there is lots of push back when guests want something on the fly. You will see a lot of "hospitality culture" which is a shock to anyone new to it.

Dear Former Sage Associate, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate you highlighting both the positive aspects of your role and the challenges you encountered. Working in a solo position can be demanding, especially in high-touch guest-facing areas like in-room dining. Your insights on staffing, support, and workload balance are important, and we recognize the impact those factors can have on the associate experience. We’re always looking to improve how we support our teams. If you’re open to sharing more, we’d welcome your perspective at myvoice@sagehospitalitygroup.com. Sincerely, The Sage Hospitality People & Culture Team You Belong Here

Pros

Large portfolio of hotels with the potential for transfers and growth. Upper management is intelligent, helpful, and the layers of management help meaningfully support daily operations on the ground.

Cons

Culture varies widely by property and reality of available job growth is determined largely at the property level despite the larger portfolio. Lots of layers of management create a high level of bureaucracy that can make getting anything done a slow and frustrating process.
