Great company overall, but really depends on property-specific management - Conference Services Manager Sage Hospitality Employee Review

Pros

I think the overall culture of Sage is a positive one. They at least talk a lot about development and leadership. Benefits are decent for the hospitality industry. They have some really fantastic properties in their portfolio and there are lots of opportunities.

Cons

It really depends on property-specific management. Having worked at two different Sage hotels, I had a great management at one, with lots of support. The other, however, I felt like management was only interested in promoting themselves within the greater corporate structure, even if it meant throwing their subordinates under the bus.

Thank you for your review of Sage, it's great to see that your overall view of our culture was positive. We truly do try to develop our associates and offer opportunities to grow your career. I appreciate your comments about management pros and cons being specific to a property. As in any company there are different management styles and strengths. If there was an issue with a specific manager I hope you were able to provide your feedback to the HRD at the property or felt that you had another avenue to express those concerns. That is the only way we can grow and improve. Thank you again for your feedback and I wish you the best in your career.

Pros

Large portfolio of hotels with the potential for transfers and growth. Upper management is intelligent, helpful, and the layers of management help meaningfully support daily operations on the ground.

Cons

Culture varies widely by property and reality of available job growth is determined largely at the property level despite the larger portfolio. Lots of layers of management create a high level of bureaucracy that can make getting anything done a slow and frustrating process.
