Pros

Can create your own schedule, no micro management. Work with talented and creative people. Gain hours with clients toward licensure, some opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Terrible compensation, many, many required unpaid paperwork hours. Very low salary for Master's level. Not given tools to do the job (e.g. laptop), must use own vehicle, not given appropriate mileage compensation. Expected to pay for own therapy items, management is very disorganized, difficulty finding appropriate person for requests at office, no after hours support, not compensated properly for required cell phone. Often have to go into dangerous neighborhoods, not compensated for no shows, don't receive mileage pay if billable hours aren't met even if not avoidable.

Pros

Supervision and some internal CEUs are provided. You can be flexible with your schedule. My office is very supportive and I have good coworkers.

Cons

I was warned about burnout and too many clients, but my experience was the opposite. I have not been able to build a caseload in a year and am being forced to part-time with loss of some benefits because there aren't enough intakes. I am not the only person in my office experiencing this. The pay is low as well, there is no stipend or reimbursement for training outside of the company even while the company does not offer specific modality training, and the company has cut salary pay model as well as cutting several holidays including Juneteenth. The company's actions continue to show that they care for profit over people.
