Pros

Well since I’m required to put something here I would have to say the only pro that comes to mind is occasional employee sponsored potlucks.

Cons

They will take away any PTO you have accrued upon turning in your notice of resignation. Even if you give 2 weeks, 2 months etc. Make sure you use ALL of your PTO before you give a notice. As it won’t be paid out. It’s just gone.

We're happy that you appreciated our efforts to create and maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere by sponsoring pot lucks as well as employee gatherings in which we provide lunch and desserts and recognize our employees for their contributions to make our workplace a wonderful place to work with mission and purpose. All of our employees are given information about our PTO policy in multiple formats which indicates that PTO is unable to be applied once someone resigns. This is specifically stated: 1. During the hiring process before someone accepts a position at Nystrom (both verbally and in writing). 2. In our Policy and Procedure manual which is distributed to staff and made available to staff. This is a practice that other agencies follow as well. We encourage staff to use up any accrued PTO in the event they intend to leave employment with our agency. We do not try to hide the fact that this is our policy.

Pros

Supervision and some internal CEUs are provided. You can be flexible with your schedule. My office is very supportive and I have good coworkers.

Cons

I was warned about burnout and too many clients, but my experience was the opposite. I have not been able to build a caseload in a year and am being forced to part-time with loss of some benefits because there aren't enough intakes. I am not the only person in my office experiencing this. The pay is low as well, there is no stipend or reimbursement for training outside of the company even while the company does not offer specific modality training, and the company has cut salary pay model as well as cutting several holidays including Juneteenth. The company's actions continue to show that they care for profit over people.
