Pros

The pros will always be the residents and the team members.

Cons

The organizational culture reflects a concerning level of elitism and lack of professionalism that appears to originate at the Home Office level. There is a prevalent pattern of gossip and discussing colleagues in their absence, creating an uncomfortable and unprofessional work environment. Progressive discipline practices are inconsistently applied and, at times, appear to rely on unverified allegations rather than substantiated evidence. Reports suggest that complaints alone may result in formal write-ups, while certain directors seem to be shielded from accountability despite confirmed instances of serious misconduct. Additionally, there are concerns regarding unaddressed discriminatory behavior by select leaders, with insufficient intervention from regional and corporate teams. This has contributed to a workplace environment where some team members feel marginalized and unsupported. Notably, an individual who attempted to appropriately raise concerns was reportedly terminated, raising questions about retaliation and a lack of protection for those who report misconduct. From an operational standpoint, there appears to be a disproportionate focus on ancillary revenue generation. Residents are charged additional fees for services that are often considered standard or inclusive in comparable communities, which may conflict with the organization’s stated “resident-first” philosophy. Communication challenges between Sagora and the ownership group further complicate operations, as inconsistent direction leaves community-level staff uncertain and frustrated. Overall, the environment is characterized by low morale, with team members expressing concern about job security due to perceived favoritism and inconsistent, and at times unethical, management practices.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thorough review. We're heartened to hear that the residents and your team members have been a highlight of your experience. The issues you've described — around organizational culture, disciplinary consistency, discrimination concerns, potential retaliation, and communication gaps between corporate and community teams — are not ones we take lightly. We recognize that feedback of this nature, especially when detailed and specific, often reflects genuine experiences that deserve honest attention. We want to be clear about our commitments: every team member deserves a workplace that is fair, respectful, and free from discrimination and retaliation. Our disciplinary processes are intended to be evidence-based and consistently applied at every level of the organization — including at the regional and Home Office levels. Where that has fallen short, we want to know, and we want to correct it. We also hear your advice regarding regional team members in communities with ongoing challenges. Gossip and unprofessional behavior from any level of leadership is harmful to morale, to our reputation, and ultimately to the residents we serve. It is not something we intend to overlook. If you are willing to share more details, we strongly encourage you to reach out to our HR department. Every concern reported will be treated with seriousness and discretion. Thank you again for caring enough about this organization to speak honestly.
