Pros

The people at Salem from the top down really live the companies mission and that goes a long way. My director supervisors are always there with some nice words of encouragement when I've had a difficult day "pounding the pavement" for advertising clients. They always lead with the carrot and never with the stick and they provide ample opportunities for training. They also know the importance of putting family first. My co-workers have a team mentality, which can be rare in advertising sales.

Cons

As a large, publicly traded company, there can sometime be annoying bureaucracy, but that's par for the course I'm sure. As a Christian/conservative format it can be a difficult sell to advertisers, especially in the liberal, un-churched city of Seattle. In Seattle, the stations are also smaller, making the sell harder.

Pros

Great supportive local environment, people called to work there to support the mission.

Cons

Corporate digital leadership is disjointed and systems are chaotic. Actual delivered campaigns are inevitably flawed and mis managed. Retaliatory, narcisstic, abusive corporate digital leadership. Constant systems changes and zero assistance in navigating. More and more digital agency and other jobs outsourced to Asia. Salespeople are exhausted and burned out by programs failing. Zero accountability taken by Ad Ops team for mistakes or extrene lag time in responses from internal automated systems. Salary cuts to 'help the company' plays on the mission minded employees, taking advantage of employees good intentions by underpaying them compared to industry. No 401K match.
