Pros

- Good people that are fun to work with and generally competent - Office is right in thick of the the tech hub that is Lehi - You are never, ever bored - Weekly company lunches - Standing desks

Cons

Over the past six months, most of the Sr. Developers and/or long-time domain experts were either fired or left. I left of my own volition for the reasons listed below. COMPENSATION RELATED -- Pay is generally below market average -- No automatic raises - you most likely will have to ask -- No cash bonuses -- Stock options available, but of unknown value WORK ENVIRONMENT -- Noisy, open office plan -- Little personal space and no privacy -- No dividers between desks -- Devs don't have offices and sit in a noisy part of the office, near the kitchen -- Way too much light flooding in through full floor-to-ceiling windows - causes glare on monitors -- Often too cold in the office and the A/C blows down onto the desks -- Only one company-provided large monitor for developers. Buy your own if you want two. -- Chairs are cheap, not the most comfortable JOB-SPECIFIC -- If you try to please management you will have a poor work/life balance -- Under-powered infrastructure causes development and QA delays -- Inexperienced management optimizes for compute cost over developer time (penny-wise and pound-foolish) -- Inexperienced, inflexible architect designs overly complicated services which require much more development and maintenance than need be -- Product requirements are, in large part, undocumented, resulting in much refactoring in the final weeks before release - this, in turn, results in developer frustration and loss of confidence in the product organization -- Way too many manual, unautomated tasks CULTURE RELATED -- Almost no on-boarding for new devs -- Not enough mentoring for new devs -- Virtually no skills training, just code, code, code -- Not enough offsite team play -- Immature employee recognition program akin to participation trophies, but only for those whose work is visible and understandable to others -- Inflexible working hours -- Remote work frowned upon, yet management has added several overseas dev contractors -- Don't come in late or you'll be talked to MANAGEMENT RELATED -- Too little appreciation -- Too little respect -- Too little trust -- Management plays favorites with employees, and also plays least favorites (the latter usually being those brave enough to give valuable constructive criticism) -- Employee suggestions are heard, but rarely acted upon -- Little improvement to work environment despite consistent employee requests -- Frequent top-down decision making after little consultation with team -- Inexperienced, inflexible management I believe things can be turned around, but only if they bring on experienced management.

Thank you for providing a very detailed review of your experience. Compensation Related We approach compensation based on performance. While some employees don't advance, many of our employees are paid beyond market wage as a result of the value they create. Most employees at SalesRabbit have indeed received multiple raises, and nearly all receive a performance-based raise within their first year at the company. I’m proud of our compensation and benefits offerings and remain committed to always being market competitive. We also provide guidance on the prospective value of options, and 97% of employees who are no longer at SalesRabbit have retained their options. Email me at feedback@salesrabbit.com if you would like to understand more about your options. Work Environment I agree that the office you are referring to, while it was a “class A” office space, had its shortcomings. After listening to Employee feedback, we no longer operate in the office you are referring to. Starting next week, SalesRabbit offers a completely new work environment that accounts for all of the items you addressed and then some. Come by for a catered lunch on Weds at 12:00 for a tour. Everyone is welcome at SR, and the team is looking forward to the privacy, quietness, and personality of our new office. Engineers have access to private workspace and dual monitors at request. Job Specific Thank you for bearing with us as our technical program experiences growing pains. It’s important contributors like yourself who work with leadership to establish best practices and improve the overall success of the program. We have changed the leadership structure of our technical program, continued to improve development operations, and are actively attracting senior technical contributors and leadership. Culture Related I agree that historically our training program has been lacking. We have overhauled it, and now have dedicated learning and code improvement resources. As we grow we will continue to allocate more resources to this important initiative. I really appreciate the comment about the offsite play. I am committed to changing this. We recently did an offsite event last week for our engineering and product team and we need to continue to advance this cause. We also recently improved our recognition program, and we will continue to do so on an annual basis. I’m sorry if you ever felt you were not recognized adequately. This is so important to us, and we regularly ask in employee surveys about recognition. We even ask a question in our exit interviews “Did you feel you were recognized for your accomplishments?” so that we can identify how to improve from past employees. Management related As one responsible for the management within the company, I’m sorry you feel you were not appreciated, respected or trusted. I’d welcome your additional feedback, by emailing me at feedback@salesrabbit.com SalesRabbit has been very intentional with creating forums for input with dedicated Slack channels that are specific to topics, departments, releases, and any other relevant topic one could think of. Additionally, we do regular surveys, monthly all-hands meetings with anonymous Q&A, and 1:1's where Employees can ensure their voice is being heard. We deeply value this feedback and use it as guidance while managing the business. Employees are regularly invited to book meetings with management. SalesRabbit is actively hiring additional senior technical talent and leadership.
