Pros

I love SalesRabbit's vibe. It is cool, young, and fresh. It feels like a Silicon Valley startup. This includes a modern-looking office and lots of fun things to play with while at work (ie: foosball, ping pong, video game consoles, segways). They do a company lunch once a week and the catering restaurant is always excellent. The company parties are also fantastic. One of my favorites was a summer movie night in the park with a food truck, lots of snacks, and a giant blow-up screen. My kids loved that event. The company also has some great employee swag, my favorite being their t-shirts which fit well and have cool designs on them. SalesRabbit is small. At the time of this writing I think they have about 50 employees. It feels like a big family and I really enjoyed that. Co-workers are really cool, very smart, helpful, and just great people that I got along with well.

Cons

The company idolizes "grit" or working long hours and doing whatever it takes to get the job done. They have a special channel on Slack dedicated to calling out employees who work weekends or late into the night. Checking the "done" box is more important than a quality, maintainable product. Facebook's phrase "move fast and break things" is epitomized by SalesRabbit. They rush releases and break their product. Developers regularly work into the night pounding out code before and after releases. The good news: if you don't like unit tests then this is the place for you!! I think upper management is missing some important skills. Decisions are often made in isolation and then mandates are given out of the blue. These decisions would be fine if they were genius home runs, but seeing as how many don't pan out I think it would be better to counsel with engineering more often. Most developers who have been at the company for a while have serious issues with management. Going out to lunch with them often turned into a long gripe session. I also found it very difficult to know where I stood with management. They would say one thing about my performance and then flip-flop a week later.

Thanks for your review. Many of the Pros you mentioned are things we are proud of and consider a hallmark of the SalesRabbit experience. Our core values are grit, curiosity, and gratitude. We collectively refer to this as grititudosity, [grit-i-tood-os-i-tee] which we define as: 1. An incredibly rare combination of grit, gratitude, and curiosity. 2. The common unifying characteristic of all SalesRabbit employees. 3. The necessary ingredients for a company that achieves extraordinary results while maintaining an exceptional culture. “Grit” is commonly misunderstood by some as doing the unexpected. When we say “Grit” we mean a commitment to overcoming long term, difficult objectives that require passion to see it through. SalesRabbit wants employees to find their ideal career / life balance with us, but it requires much of the company and Employee to operate in a way where discipline is used to manage how and when they work. We define grit as the following: 2 Le-grit 2 Quit If we ever give up, there’s only one explanation: we are dead, and someone needs to call a mortician. Whatever the department, whatever the discipline, we’re driven from the inside by passion for creating positive impact for SalesRabbit and our customers. Grit isn’t how we do things; it’s who we are. SalesRabbit values employee commitment and loyalty from employees who are doing quality work and contributing technically, culturally, and productively, which we reward with compensation, benefits, flexibility, and position advancement. Every company hires, fires and has voluntary leave. At SalesRabbit, prior to any employee being terminated, they are offered mutually designed performance improvement plans. We don’t ever want to lose great Employees, but we also don't want to retain Employees who are not energized by our mission or values. Thank you for bearing with us during our technical growth. SalesRabbit is in the process of hiring additional executive level technical leadership. The business continues to grow, diversify, and create new demands upon its operating team & engineers. Additional leadership will have added bandwidth and specialty experience to manage in a way that aligns the technical operating philosophies of the engineering department. If you have additional feedback you want to offer us as we continue to scale, please email us at feedback@salesrabbit.com
