Pros
The perks are there, but the culture is what matters. There's a sense of purpose about why Salesforce exists and how every employee can contribute to that purpose. * People are smart - if you are open, you will learn a lot * The work is challenging - this not a place for slackers * Plenty of non-human resources - you'll more tools to do your job than at most companies. * Can be a very collaborative work environment
Cons
* Salesforce is developing a hubris, similar to what I saw at Microsoft and other large companies. It smacks of "but we're salesforce, we're hot s***" - We're not listening as well as we should. There's a distinction between confidence and arrogance that is being missed. * Sometimes senior employees, those with 6 or 7 or more years with salesforce often exhibit the most narrow thinking about how to approach problems. There's a tendency to rely on what's worked before and apply the standard old salesforce playbook to new problems and challenges. This reinforces narrow thinking and devalues the experience of newcomers. *The headcount growth has negatively impacted the social and emotional intelligence of the organization. New hires sometime struggle to integrate into the culture and develop the healthy and authentic relationships that facilitate higher performance. They flounder and leave too soon. * There's a growing cognitive dissonance between the 'practice mindfulness' and 'work/life balance' that is preached and the pressure to do the work and volunteer more (56 hours a year). It generates cynicism. * The cost of living in the SF Bay Area is ridiculous
