Too many bullies at management level resulting in a toxic environment. My life was made a lot harder when I told my manager I was unhappy. Horrible atmosphere in our team, immature nasty comments and constant whispering from the managers. HR was a massive no-go, always on the manager’s side. There's an unhealthy 'levels' culture, what grade/ level you are on is quite public and people benchmark themselves against each other, again, this became quite toxic (you get more employee benefits the higher your level). Getting holiday approved was really difficult, managers agreeing verbally and via email but then refusing to follow process and approve holiday in the system. I had holiday sitting in the system waiting to be approved for months and at one point my manager suggested I could no longer take it off as it hadn't techincally been approved yet... So having to book hotels & flights without formal approval. HR did nothing about this even though I had followed the process correctly and reminded my manager several times to approve. Felt like I was treated badly the couple of times I asked to take time off for doctors or was ill. Told I needed to dial in to meetings. Found myself just coming into work ill because I couldn’t deal with the horrible comments I knew I would get. Budget for training and courses seemed to only go to the managers, my requests were always denied even though they were very relevant to the areas I was told I needed to grow in within my role. I think I lost a lot of love for this company because this behaviour was allowed to go on. Even worse, the bullies have since been promoted even though it was well known across the business they behaved in this way.
