Pros
Pay was good, stock used to do well, CEO is well spoken and mission-driven.
Cons
Some teams are doing well but the management on my team in particular is extremely bad, it's an obvious problem and nothing is ever done about it. Goals and projects frequently change and engineers get the blame for the managers mistakes. Very little WLB but you never have a sense that you're working toward anything impactful or growing your career. Very low team morale. I'm sure other teams with good management don't have this problem but everyone on my team is trying to switch teams or leave the company altogether. Benefits are being drained, we used to have sabbaticals and 2 weeks off for Christmas vacation, now we don't have those at all and it's a fight to get 2 weeks off in a row. They theoretically offer a generous parental leave but nobody takes more than a month off because of all the pressure. AI tooling has only increased the amount of throughput expected expected from upper management but nothing changes from a directional standpoint because ultimately management is just responding to whatever flashy features our competitors are throwing out, or if someone suggests using LLMs to solve some random problem the project is immediately a yes. Meanwhile we drown in unresolved tech debt that you get punished for actually trying to resolve because you're not "innovating" by spending your time doing that.
