Pros
- Work from home setup, not changing in the short-term. Too many folks are spread out away from main hubs, so you'll dodge RTO here - Pay is decent; depends on your location but this is the most I've made in my career - Smart people; the company does a good job hiring talented people
Cons
Biggest con- there's only 3 pros to list. Was once a great company that's been ruined by process, untrustworthy leadership, and a rotten morale. - Performance bar is insane here; you're expected to do a ton of work without the tools or bandwidth to actually do your job - Middle management barely shields you from any of the BS at the top. Good luck getting support from your manager for your work - Impossible to get above a "passable" performance rating; this is done probably purposely to avoid paying people more than a 1-2% increase - Benefits are being slashed; sabbatical, stock for below P40, mental health days, leave lengths and travel expenses are all either gone or greatly reduced - Tons of criticism, no praise; you will never get a "job well done" at Samsara unless you're buddies with leadership. You'll be made to feel like you're barely keeping your job and have a ton of "opportunity areas" that aren't reasonable or reflective of your work - You'll become fluent in corporate jargon; I've never been at a company use so many filler words and pretend they're actually accomplishing something - The internal tasks for customer facing roles are beyond insane. You'll spend more time in internal meetings talking about processes that don't do anything for the customer, then be scolded for not having enough time with customers - Everything is processed to death- you will never get to flex creativity here; you're a consultant who's mandated to do what you're told, nothing else. Every new process that's rolled out is how you're measured, not by customer sentiment or driving impacts
