The culture of Samsung involves lots and lots of dispatchers from the home office who have created a culture of hoarding information, spying, and control. Local hires that are in leaderships are compensated extremely well and so they act in a way that will ensure their continued employment. The time you spend here will be spent learning how to operate within Samsung without learning things that will help you outside of Samsung. As you will see, I gave a lot of stars to compensation because they have to pay everyone a ton of money to work there. They also give titles away. Everyone is senior or a director or a senior director.
Amusingly, the first President they hired to oversee software development in Mountain View comes out of 20 years at the home office. He originally started as a tanker ship designer.
This is a company which does not trust instinct, taste, employees, or customers. If a VP did not think of the idea, it's obviously terrible. Unless those come from Apple in which case they are all over it. Case in point...the Samsung watch did not exist until Apple rumors of a watch percolated. The Samsung connected home was a back burner item until HomeKit was announced during 2013 WWDC.
