Pros

I used to love working here until a political opportunist in patient access became the supervisor of patient access in the heart hospital. One bad egg in management can ruin the work environment.

Cons

Endless meetings and chronic emails are boring and useless for the most part. The management of patient access in the heart hospital is ran by a limited person. morale is very low. The supervisor hires lazy people and turnover is extremely high. teamwork and respect among staff dropped terribly. The manager doesn't know the employees or their work, but gives raises based on her biases from picking personal favorites instead of on performance of her staff. She demonstrates poor judgement. Example, Complaints from patients and their families are frequent regarding her favorite coworker she lets roam free like a big overweight jerk, who's only nice to the nurses but verbally abuses his equals, patients and family members. Someone even stopped me on the street and asked about the big bully who hangs over the edge of the podium and makes snide looks to all the passerby's! I was ashamed to be associated with such people because I'm proud of my work and what I do. Many employees complain to each other but we just suck it up because our cries won't be heard by anyone and we all have a fear of retaliation. There's no oversight on patient access supervisors. Several need to be fired and we need to be supervised by people with actual management training and leadership experience, preferably omitting those only working for an impressive sounding title and a cushy paycheck. why not hire those who care about people and patients? More money need to go to doctors, nurses, and those who have patient contact, not to middle management jerks who aren't good at what they do!

Pros

There are no pros to working at Sunset Drive

Cons

High turn over rate for a reason. The management is horrendous above all else. Forces CNAs to work severely understaffed, sometimes alone to a 40 patient unit. They treat their employees like they are disposable and show absolutely zero appreciation unless you fall under their favoritism. Promote horrible employees whilst treating the good ones horribly. They expect you to throw your personal life away for the job. Will pick employees up during snow storms but expect them to find their own rides home in an attempt to trap them there to work a double shift when other staff inevitably don’t show up at shift change. They also offer hot meals for those who will stay overnight during predicted snow storms but those hot meals end up being a bag of goldfish and some gram crackers. They threaten to report evening employees for abandonment if they don’t work a double when overnights don’t show up at shift change. The work environment is borderline abusive and is extremely detrimental to a persons mental health. Management also has a tendency to sweep illegal doings under the rug and refuse to cooperate with police when it involves cases pertaining to their residents. Best advice I can give is to stay as far away from this place as possible. They do not care about you.
