Pros
The canteen has a nice breakfast selection. The work is mostly easy.
Cons
The shift rotation is very difficult, often you will finish on a Saturday night at 7pm and start again for night shift only 24 hours later leaving no time to get enough sleep which makes it difficult to maintain relationships and mental health. The jobs can very extremely boring and no swapping is done to keep you sane. The pay is very bad and most of the time people in the exact same position are on different pay for no particular reason. Managment often shows contempt for the workers which can be annoying. For me too much time is spent there, most doing 4 12 hour shifts a week, mostly on nights or over weekends which really affects home life. There is no daytime shift allowance even though you are still working 12 hours. Overtime is often forced with almost no notice meaning it can be difficult to plan. HR can treat employee's in a very underhanded manner in an attempt to go against your employee rights. Alot of bullying takes place if you are unlucky to be put on a bad shift. You have to make up hours every month which doesn't count as overtime. Breaks are too few for 12 hours making the monotomy even worse. Pay is monthly and low putting more stress on your finances.
