This diversity of knowledge adds value to the employee and the employer. The salary is above average. The benefits are average. The perks are above average. The work life balance is sometimes great and sometimes demanding.
Cons
Jobs outside of engineering are not needed at this company. Therefore, any skill set that isn't within the boundaries of the power engineering related discipline are not as valuable. Also, the "centerpiece" for Sargent & Lundy is quality. Adding "Quality" to Sargent & Lundy products is a costly effort, which sometimes causes a distraction to the ultimate goal of customer satisfaction. Too much of the Quality effort erodes other customer objectives.
