Pros

I really enjoyed the people I worked with even tho the work environment doesn't promote getting to know your co-workers. Other than that, the pay was consistent and raises are determined by how much of your free time you are willing to give up after work

Cons

Sargent & Lundy is a very strict workplace, you don't realize how strict it is until you work other places that don't make big deals about arriving 5 minutes late. It is frowned upon to even check your phone let alone be on it when a manager walks by. It always felt like I was doing something wrong and was being told these little things count in my reviews. This being my first real job out of college, I thought it was like this everywhere, so happy I decided to leave to take another position.

Thanks for your review. Our various company-sponsored activity groups and sports teams are intended to help employees get to know one another, and our collaborative office environment is specifically designed to make colleagues more accessible and teamwork more convenient. However, examples you have described, such as showing up late for work, taking extended lunch breaks, and making personal calls as those around you are trying to complete their work, are all issues that can have a direct, negative impact on the work environment. Ultimately though, performance is the primary gauge our supervisors use to enforce these types of workplace issues. It sounds like you’ve landed somewhere that’s a better fit for you, and we wish you well in your new position.

Plenty of work, no shortage with a big company

Felt like a number, not an individual employee

Pros

Decent pay and interesting projects that allow for good professional development.

Cons

Absolutely horrendous work-life balance. I have been at the company for almost 20 years and their lack of support and flexibility for parents is incredibly disappointing. Going to the office requirements are unrealistic with little kids, and some of the newly minted managers are on a power trip, micromanaging high performers and quoting pto policies if you need to run 30min errands midday.
