Pros

I only great thing is the 50% off employee discount. The people I worked with were fun at times, but everyone was always sweating and so stressed out.

Cons

1. They hire a bunch of people, but never schedule the right amount of employees to manage the sales floor and fitting room. All because they didn't make enough sales. This has been happening since the day I got hired to now. But then everyone (the few people the scheduled) ends of staying till 10:40pm to clean the store like slaves. 2. Customers are cheap and are always switching tags or ripping them off and stuffing them places in the store. So you are always asking the manager/supervisor for a price check every five minutes. Especially if you are on cash. 3. Customers are disgusting. They trash the floor with garbage, soiled diapers are kicked under shelves. Spilt coffee cups are found in the different crevices of the store. Nasty tissues and food wrappers and used female hygiene products have been found around the store. They also switch their shoes a lot. (leave their old shoes behind and then steal new ones...it has also happened with clothes too) 4. Customers steal all the time, but you can't really catch them cause you are busy trying to clean up the store. 5. The fitting room is out in the open it isn't like other fitting rooms. So it gets messy real fast and customers don't care and just leave stuff inside and on the floor or throw things on the rack. 6. THEY DO NOT HAVE A PROPER AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM!!!!! The air is always musty, but that is a given since it is a thrift store. 7. Customers are always abandoning their carts ALL AROUND the store!!! If you are short people (which is like every shift) it is a hassle to get organized and put away if you are responsible with being on cash/fitting rooms or cleaning the floor (GR-ing). 8. Upper management doesn't really listen. Kind of feel bad for them, to be honest. 9. You are there for over a year and a few months, you are in the process of getting a post-secondary school education and they let a high-schooler sit in the office and input club card data for a whole 7 hour shift. NOT FAIR! I always got only a .40 cents raise... 10. I have witnessed employees who have worked there for ten years who are just only now being trained for managerial positions. So there isn't really much room to move up in the company. Even if you have a diploma or BA in business/Human Resources. If this is the only place you were able to get hired (like I was) and you want to continue in retail, stay here for a year and slave away to get the experience. Just do you best and you could probably find a better retail clothing job that has proper air-conditioning. Cause the company is obviously having money troubles in North America. I predict that they might start closing a lot of their locations in the future and them become totally obsolete. So don't get your hopes up if you want to become a supervisor. Cause the company seems to be a sinking ship...
