Pros

I've worked at the Calle Cuervo location at Savers in ABQ, NM for almost three years. I work up front and not in production, which is only significant because the two departments are set up to be divisive and generally lack respect for each other in my experience. I can only speak to the up front departments and not the back (production). As far as the good things about the job: the daily workload is very consistent and pretty easy, my fellow team members are all lovely people, and scheduling is very flexible for students/people with multiple jobs.

Cons

Respectfully-where do I start? Be prepared to be regularly accosted verbally, physically, and occasionally sexually harassed by customers with little to no defense from managers, corporate, etc. Regulars are rude and entitled because they are under the impression that they have a relationship with many of the managers and the store manager. There is zero loyalty for long-term employees. In my whole time here my pay has only increased by 50 cents. They will never source from inside the store for managers, consistently they will hire 1.) managers from other stores who you will have to help train and watch as they do less and get paid more OR 2.) employees who are middle aged or older regardless of experience (they will never hire someone under 30 for a management position, no matter your skill or maturity). The behavior of general managers I have dealt with (and I'll be specific- I am not talking about Carlos Perez, who is the upfront supervisor overseeing the general mangers, with whom my experience has only been positive) have been downright despicable. New managers have come and go and more than not have lacked any respect for their team members. I've been talked to like a child, screamed at, watched myself and other employees be treated horribly (some of which seemed to be all be minority females by a specific manager). The store manager responsible for hiring these managers is visibly deeply out of touch. Time and time again managers are chosen and all fit the same description: middle aged, do not know how the store works regularly, do not know how to work self-checkouts/registers, lack respect for team members, have not worked as an associate in 5+ years, and care more about impressing the store manager than the general wellness and efficiency of the store and its employees. Additionally, employee retention is horrible up front, because people get tired of the disrespect and quit, managers and team members alike. Prepare to be constantly overstaffed or understaffed. And if you really wanna have some fun- ask them how many managers and employees have quit in the last year alone. In my experience, there hasn't been a year there hasn't been almost a completely new staff.

Pros

It's a Job I guess

Cons

The pay is just over minimum wage. There is no work life balance they don't offer holiday pay and require you to work on all holidays except for Christmas and Thanksgiving. They constantly add new thing to the job and will never give you a pay raise or advancement. All around bad company that's taking advantage of working class Americans.
