Pros
fair pay, sick benefits, just started a retirement fund last year. Lots of overtime available, the work itself can be fulfilling, field staff are a good group to work with.
Cons
The Toronto directors and management all previously worked at Metrolinx and were hired within the last two years. New management are careerists who only care about furthering their careers and do not work well with the staff who were there before them. Management does not do what's right for the company, in the end they want to look good at any cost and take the credit for others work. Unless you are part of managements inner circle, you will not be promoted and will be treated like a worker drone instead of an actual person, the current work climate is hostile. Current management hires all their friends and yes people from their former employer so you probably won't have a chance to apply for a promotion internally as it will be most likely filled externally by one of their previous work associates. There is a huge communication disconnect between teams that result in big problems that could have been avoided. If you're okay with staying in the same position than this is the job for you, otherwise set your sights on another employer that will let you grow.
