My opinion and experience here: This is a very bad company to work for if you're not an insider. I define insider as someone who has been here 20 years or is connected to a powerful manager. Really it's a bad company to work for even if your are an insider because you would have to go along with the horrible behavior of management to be an insider. You need to participate in the inhumane treatment of others in a cult-like way. I'm dumbfounded at the way I'm treated here. I work very hard, help everyone who asks for something I can help with, and try my best to make people feel good about themselves, yet I'm bullied continually by my supervisor and his; they definitely want to drive me out yet so far they haven't fired me. I've created many useful tools an organized a very significant workload that 'til I did was very chaotic, put forth what I think is one very great idea (which was ignored of course, in favor of what looks like very bad ideas to me.) I document methods and share them with fellow workers. I'm currently working on three ecos (probably why I'm not fired.) which I'm nearly 100% responsible for all the work on in my field. I'm the only person I work around with that kind of workload. My immediate supervisor has on a number of occasions "gaslighted" me for his enjoyment. His supervisor has told others that SEL likes bullies so that is why he is one. Everyone at SEL can clearly see management is evil yet people post glowing reviews. I don't know why.Perhaps HR is trying to make the ratings look good by making fake posts, so it's easier to find employees when the get done chewing them up. The events at this company could set the stage for a good psychological thriller story; perhaps I'll write one one day. On one occasion a family member of mine was seriously ill. During the course of the illness I had continued working hard making a very important tool and leading some other work too. We got a new mid-level manager (the others were being replaced because the V.P. needed a whipping boy to blame for his incompetence) who my supervisor met with. As his first task, the mid-level manager was asking for the "dirt" on all the employees. My supervisor when relating the meeting dropped hints that he mentioned something to the supervisor about two employees in our group but he didn't mean that two of us should get PIPs. Weeks went by and I noticed my supervisor kept bringing this up around me. So finally I asked him if I was getting a PIP? He said it depends on your meeting with the new supervisor. When I asked why, he wouldn't say and only said well there are certain things you should be doing as a lead... I was lead on my first project, was finishing work faster than on any eco I'd ever been on, and been lead only three months. I was shocked, I expected a glowing review and a big raise for all the work I'd done and leading a new project, being under budget on hours that others not me had estimated on the project. He then made sure to mention a couple days later that he was giving our H1B employee a big raise, that he'd gone to bat for him. I had very little money at the time and the family illness had cost me about $12,000 in my expenses and of course I did not want to lose my insurance as it could be fatal for my family member. In all my years of work I have never personally know of any employer who was so cruel; he delighted in doing this and he was fully aware of my circumstance. This should be a prosecutable crime. Last year at my review I submitted a 500 word essay about what I worked on (we are required to do that.) It was pretty good, I was happy to remember so much good work. My supervisor then submitted his "objective" evaluation. During my one on one review with him, he said he had to submit three different reviews. The first one was so good his supervisor said well you make it sound like he should be promoted, so he rewrote it. The next one made it all the way to the second supervisor above him and that supervisor said is he really that bad (referring to me) and so he rewrote it a third time and that one was average. This is another example of my supervisor gaslighting me. There are many(almost daily)small incidents of this behavior by my supervisor.
