Pros

The reason why I didn't give this a full blown 1 star rating was because some of the people I met working at Scoot. Scoot definitely had a fun energy and drew great people in because of its culture. Meetings were fun and outside work activities were encouraged by management. In some ways it felt like a family. which probably made me trust Scoot more than I should've.

Cons

I want to be as direct as possible here, because they make you write a positive review once you get in there, when you're happiest at Scoot. Management focused on growth in other territories rather than their existing employees. Low salaries, made it impossible to get a raise. Very numbers and bottom line driven, not based off of work ethic/output. Favoritism. You could clearly see who management liked and they would get promoted faster than others, as well as were treated better. Political. Made it seem they were a startup with fresh values, but secretly functions like a corporation. Nice to your face, but gives you no chance once they made up their mind about you. You're ousted before you're aware. Sexist/colorist management. In my time there I saw more white men become part of the management team, and despite there being more women around, most of them were white, or white-passing. It was frustrating because management claimed they were doing the most to have D&I teachers, which was true, but it did not reflect on the team. I saw the feedback given to women had different tones and feedback, at least from my 1 on 1 conversations with them. Constant uphill battle. Constantly felt I had to prove myself, even if I had no control over the outcome. It was embarrassing after a while. I felt I had to prove my value and positive feedback was rarely given, if ever. Shady. People would mysteriously quit without any inkling of a reason why, but after talking to them after the fact, they were bullied into quitting. Elitist. I'll stop there.

Pros

- Had fantastic teammates across the board on the Education Consultant team. They do a good job of hiring kind and hard-working people. - For the most part, they do a good job of respecting an 8-hour workday - Hybrid Schedule (2 days remote per week)

Cons

- Poor leadership: No transparency, a cult-like culture with lots of fake positivity. - You are doing essentially 5 or 6 different jobs in one (Customer Success / Account Management, Recruiting + Onboarding, Customer Service / Phone Support, Morning and Evening Dispatching, Managing Subs directly, including having negative feedback conversations, Payroll / Timesheet / Compliance management). - Siloed teams: if you're stuck with a bad / incompetent manager, you're on your own. - Micromanaging: There is almost no time in the day that isn't accounted for by management. As I left the company, they were beginning to monitor employees on a level that felt ridiculous and infantilizing
