Pros
It's nice to have a job where I can choose to be available or not. If I need to take time to take my cat to the vet or rest, I can just indicate I'm not available. I'm able to work at my other job as a college professor and still do this on the side.
Cons
Some weeks I wake up at 5am every single day and get zero assignments. So, I'm waking up at 5am for no good reason and that makes me salty. Some weeks are extremely busy and I get called every day, others are not busy at all and I get no work. It seems like I've been assigned to one particular recruiter and if she is out sick or not in the office I don't get any work. Testing for Covid every single week is also a pain. I also had a huge struggle with the LACAO in getting my 30-day substitute permit. Scoot Education insisted I send my application through this agency to expedite my application, but that didn't work out. I've been working only at private schools because the person who was supposed to expedite my application did not. I turned in my materials in December. It is now April and the paperwork got turned in about a week ago. Because of this, I have been very limited as I can only work at the one private school they have on their roster. There was no reason that the lady who was supposed to expedite my application didn't do so. She just didn't do it despite me calling and asking her about it every few weeks until she finally submitted it.
