Pros
+ Volunteers and the community are amazing and supportive. + Sometimes flexible about getting to work later if you have appointments or other things. + Great job for someone retired/looking for a passion project job with Boy Scouts. Not great for Entry level. + Trainings at National Locations are really fun and full of great people to meet.
Cons
(to put in perspective of a level 400 council/smaller region) - Small employee group that is micromanaged by the Scout Executive. - Expected to work constantly without personal time in between. Work full weekend events, and full weeks at the office, sometimes more than 7 days in a row. Not worth the low pay for the amount of time it takes out of your life. - NO promotional advancement available. Either a low-paid base-level employee or a Council CEO. If you want to find a promotion, you are pretty much required to move to different locations to advance. - Employees tried to argue for a Hybrid work model since burnout was occurring and was shut down by Council CEO because he "personally didn't like it". - Unrealistic expectations to meet yearly goals. District in a hostile/anti-scouting LDS area and was constantly judged by Council CEO for not meeting unrealistic goals. - Work-Life Balance is not important to the job. Numbers and membership become priority over everything. - Required to drive over +250 Miles once a week to units and District events. (overall I would recommend jobs for Councils level 200 or higher) Many of the issues I had wouldn't be a problem in a more updated and larger employee size.
