Pros

Volunteers are great, Program and Camp can be fun.

Cons

Where do I start? - The local Council has serious issues with transparency - Lack of respect for employees, volunteers, and staff - Time off requests were never officially approved, and you are shamed for taking a day off. - Head volunteers have been stripped from positions for "asking questions" to the Executive. - Low pay, low work-life balance, horrible hours + traveling weekly - Never allowed to question the executive's decisions, all inquiries and questioning must be reported to them. People are labeled as "bullies" when they have serious questions. - Camps are mismanaged, no facilities management, and budget cuts to camping every year make it impossible to grow program - Conflict of interest is everywhere, people get special treatment regarding background and relationships. - Micromanaged and mismanaged in every aspect - Employees have been told they are "replaceable" and are told they are fireable if they don't follow what they are told. - DEs are burnt out, paid horribly, and have 0 say in any decisions by the executive

Pros

Good health benefits via UnitedHealth.

Cons

Micromanage, cannot hold a conversation in office in this department without getting in trouble for talking with colleagues. However they expect you to come in 3 days a week at minimum to encourage team collaboration and team building. Meanwhile people who are paid at least 6 figures walk around the office holding conversations about nothing work related or complaining about local council employees and members-as if they do not realize without these very same people they would not have the big houses and fancy cars they own.
