Overworked, underpaid, no work-life balance - District Executive Scouting America Employee Review

Pros

The overall mission of the Boy Scouts. Great organization for kids and volunteers, and slowly progressing to where it needs to be.

Cons

Not a sustainable model on a local council level. There is way to much to do for a 60 hour week, even. The upper management in larger councils sit behind glass doors and profit off of the lower employees who really do the work. If you value family time, do not work as a district executive. Many long nights and stressful days accompany this organization. Only chance to move up is to move around.

Pros

Good health benefits via UnitedHealth.

Cons

Micromanage, cannot hold a conversation in office in this department without getting in trouble for talking with colleagues. However they expect you to come in 3 days a week at minimum to encourage team collaboration and team building. Meanwhile people who are paid at least 6 figures walk around the office holding conversations about nothing work related or complaining about local council employees and members-as if they do not realize without these very same people they would not have the big houses and fancy cars they own.
