The BSA: A forward looking movement that is steeped in tradition - Finance Director Scouting America Employee Review

Pros

An organization that is steeped in a long tradition of helping ordinary kids become extraordinary adults has it benifits. There is no better organization for our youth than scouting (be it Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts). At the end of a long day you do get a sense of reward knowing that your day was spent help mold the future generations of leaders in business, government and community.

Cons

Often the days are long. When you are working with volunteers who themselves have carreers nights and weekends are normal. Also, to move to senior management in large areas, you do need to relocate often as much as every 3 years.

Pros

Good health benefits via UnitedHealth.

Cons

Micromanage, cannot hold a conversation in office in this department without getting in trouble for talking with colleagues. However they expect you to come in 3 days a week at minimum to encourage team collaboration and team building. Meanwhile people who are paid at least 6 figures walk around the office holding conversations about nothing work related or complaining about local council employees and members-as if they do not realize without these very same people they would not have the big houses and fancy cars they own.
