Pros
Clinical exposure, patient interaction, some friendly office staff, some friendly doctors. Great way to see if you want to get in the medical field without going through an EMT or CNA program. I also met a lot of cool doctors.
Cons
Terrible pay, terrible management support, lack of 40 hour work week, no vacation, no sick time, some doctors are absolute bears to work with and are so mean. The chief scribe position is so under compensated and the hiring managers don't care. I had a great chief scribe and he was so overwhelmed with managerial work while only making a few more dollars per hour than me. If I could go back I would just be a tech in an ER or an EMT because after awhile it gets pretty boring and the company really could care less if you left. I only stayed because I liked my doctor.
